Kimlea depends a lot on donations to be able to cater for the needs of the school. Being a school where the students pay only about 8 % of the fees and sometimes some parents are unable to raise this, help is needed in order to be able to educate these girls.
International donors have helped in a variety of ways. They put up the new buildings and extended them. They also provided equipment such as the knitting machines required for some of the technical classes. Others have assisted by paying fees for some students.
Local donors have helped by contributing money for the day-to-day running of the school as well as for educating the girls. Parents assist by providing food for the school. Volunteer teachers offer their services to the school.
